This
year the Rotaract Club
instituted a point system. Students who
earned 30 points during the year were invited
to an executive board dinner. Advisors Hall
and Sims treated the eligible club members,
and our long-time friend and supporter,
John Washington,
to dinner at Chili’s in Jenkintown.
Bob Lankin, of
Northeast Sunriser Rotary Club was unable
to attend. Congratulations to the hard-working
officers who accomplished so much during
the 2012-2013 year. More

The
Rotary Club of West
Chester joined the Community
Rotaract
Club again this year
in the Stockings for Soldiers
project, gathering a large
box of small food and personal items to
be put into stockings and sent to soldiers
during the holidays. In addition to collecting
items for stockings, several Rotary members
and Rotary friends also sewed colorful stockings
from holiday and patriotic fabrics. Looking
over some of the colorful stockings that
were sewn are (standing from left)
Pam Costanzi, Rotary
Liaison to the Rotaract Club, Tamara
Minnick from the Rotaract
Club, and sewers, Moreley Lyddane,
Cathy Palmquist,
and (seated from left) Faith
Woodward and Linda
Hicks. Over 100 stockings
were sewn and will be stuffed and mailed
to soldiers in Afghanistan and other locations
where America troops are stationed. In addition,
the Rotary Club donated $500 to the Rotaract
Club to assist with the cost of shipping
the filled stockings to the soldiers. These
stockings will be included with thousands
of others being gathered and assembled as
part of the national Stockings for Soldiers
project. For more information, contact Cathy

RYLA
2012 was an amazing experience! Six Rotaract
members from our District attended and met
with over 140 other Rotaract members from
nearly 40 countries. The Rotaractors that
attended were Devon Pennington from Main
Line Rotaract Club, Mike Ceranic from Manor
Rotaract Club, Jen Hu and
Caitlin Sequira from Swarthmore Rotary Club,
Tierny Ulmer from West Chester University
Rotaract Club, and Thomas Dixon from the
Philadelphia Rotaract Club. Lessons of leadership
and understanding filled our time as we
spent the five day experience in small groups
of about 10-12 members. The journey began
on Wednesday with registration and sightseeing
at the Library of Congress, Supreme Court
and a tour of Congress itself. Each night
we enjoyed a different embassy for dinner
and we enjoyed Wednesday evening at the
Embassy of Finland. |
