Elizabeth
joined the Rotary Club of Kennett Square in 1996. She served
on the Board for three years, with responsibilities for
vocational service, programs, and membership, before she
became President of the club in 2000-2001. The following
year, she served as President of the Kennett Rotary Foundation.
In the 2004-2005 Rotary year, she was honored by her club
with the designation “Rotarian of the Year.”
She is a Paul Harris Fellow and a Gundaker Fellow.
At the District level, Elizabeth
served on the RYLA committee from 2002-2005.

She served two terms as Assistant Governor
for Area 7 of District 7450. During the 2005-2006 Rotary year she
served on the District Foundation Committee as a host counselor
for an Ambassadorial Scholar and on the Grants subcommittee.
That same year she also served on
the Strategic Planning Committee, as Chair of the District Membership
Development Committee, and as District Trainer under District
Governor Elect Marty Phillips. Elizabeth has been recognized with
two Governor’s Citations for her work on the Visions of
Peace event honoring RI President Frank Devlin and as registrar
for the District 7450 Centennial Celebration. During 2007-2008,
Elizabeth will serve as the first Lieutenant Governor of District
7450.
A native of Montana, Elizabeth earned BA and MA
degrees at the University of Montana in Missoula and a PhD from
Ohio University. Elizabeth has also studied music and art history
in Germany, France and Italy. As a trained musician, Elizabeth
performed in Montana, Oregon, Germany, France, England, Wales
and the mid-Atlantic region. She performed with the Madrigal Singers
of Wilmington for twenty years and currently sings with the Delaware
Valley Chorale. She served on the Board of Trustees of the Delaware
Symphony Association for many years. Other community activities
include three terms as Clerk of Kennett Friends Meeting, five
years as a mentor for Chester County Futures and continuing many
years as captain of two tennis teams.
Elizabeth works with her husband, David, in their
company, David G. Rhoads Associates, Inc., which provides technical
software to the clinical laboratory industry. Elizabeth and David
(also a Rotarian and Paul Harris Fellow) live near Kennett Square.
They have a grown daughter and two teen-aged grandsons.
