July
11 to 15, 2012
- RYLA
North America
4th annual RYLA North America in Washington DC is a
gathering of Rotaractors, RYLA alumni, former Youth
Study and Group Study Exchange alumni, Ambassadorial
and Peace Scholar alumni and former Interactors. Registration
fees are $295 with info at www.rylanorthameric.com
The
RYLA
– Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program was
held at Freedoms Foundation February 24-26. Seventy-eight
young men and women in high school gathered to spend
a weekend together. Each one came away as a different
person with many new friends. They created a new
vision of where they could go in the next year and
for a lifetime. Rotaractors and committed Rotarians
helped to facilitate this weekend providing an opportunity
for each to see how a life of service can be fulfilling.
They spent time learning leadership skills, visioning,
and experiencing the free enterprise system. Time
was spent in how to recognize your own talents and
those of your associates.

Here’s a comment
from a teacher in a school that had not had any
previous representation atthe 2012 RYLA:
“The girls had an absolutely amazing time
at RYLA!
Our next meeting is March 10th and the girls will
be sharing about their experience. Thank you for
your continuous support for our kids!”
Thanks go to Karen Mazzarella, Ethel Ann Murphy,
Bob Listerman, Maria Mills-Torres, Brian Casey,
Lizabeth Conners, Barbara DeBaptiste, Dave Haradon,
Chad Rosenberg, John Washington, Joe Batory, Myrl
Brut, Will Fairley, Holly Lankin, Cynthia Lyman,
Sharon Quick and more, along with a host of Rotaractors
who pulled this all together despite significant
unforeseen obstacles.
