The Kennett Square
Rotary Club is responsible for getting the Annual 5k/10k Run/Walk of the
Kennett Run started. There were over 3,000 participants at the 21st Run
May 2010. This event started with just 100 runners. Visit www.kennettrun.net.
Not only are we still involved but so are other clubs, Rotarian and non-Rotarian
in making this a successful event every year. Mike
Perna who proposed the Run in 1989, is still
an active member on the board as is Al Schmitt,
a
past President of the club. The Run is usually held the weeked after Mother's
Day weekend (May each year). Profits support organizations in the area.
The Kennett Square Rotary
Club is responsible for starting the Kennett Area Senior Center (KASC).
A Kennett Club Rotarian currently serve on the board of directors for the
Center: Bronwyn Martin.
Visit: www.kennettseniorcenter.org.
The KASC provides a vital assortment of services that enrich social relationships,
foster physical health, encourage educational interests and promote self-reliance.
Stop by for lunch Monday-Friday or sign up for an activity. The Center
caters to everyone 55 years and over. Many events are open to and
or include youngsters, teens, etc.
