The Kennett Square
Rotary Club is responsible for getting the Annual 5k/10k Run/Walk started.
There were over 2,700 participants at the 20th Run May 2009. This event
started with just 100 runners.. Visit www.kennettrun.net.
Not only are we still involved but so are other clubs, Rotarian and non-Rotarian
in making this a successful event every year. Mike
Perna who proposed the Run in 1989, is still
an active member on the board. Al Schmitt
is current President of the club. The Run is usually held the weeked after
Mother's Day weekend (May each year). Profits support organizations in
the area.
The Kennett Square Rotary
Club is responsible for starting the Kennett Area Senior Center (KASC).
Two Kennett Club Rotarians currently serve on the board of directors for
the Center: Louise Bair
and Bronwyn Martin.
Visit: www.kennettseniorcenter.org.
The KASC provides a vital assortment of services that enrich social relationships,
foster physical health, encourage educational interests and promote self-reliance.
Stop by for lunch Monday-Friday or sign up for an activity. The Center
caters to everyone 50 years and over. Many events are open to and
or include youngsters, teens, etc.
