The International Society for Crippled Children, known today as Easter Seals, was founded by Rotarian Edgar F. "Daddy" Allen, who first presented the idea in 1919 to his Rotary club in Elyria, Ohio, USA. The society received The Rotary Foundation's first grant, made in 1929.

The Kennett Club raised $100 March 17 for the family of Carmen Lemus who lost their house and belongings in the recent arson fires in Coatesville.

Brain Gustafsson of Glen Mills School introduced Jonathan to Rotary March 3. Jonathan is pursuing a career in culinary arts after graduation.

Don, Eleanor, Steve, Elizabeth, Jenny behind the more than 110 pairs for our 2009 Soles4Souls collection, more than doubling our efforts of 2008.

Our First Annual Art Gala was a huge success November 14 2008. Over 30 artists presented their work and over 200 attendees visited the show.

September is Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month and we partnered with Sandy Rollman Ovarian Cancer Foundation to Turn the Town Teal with teal coloured ribbons on trees on State St. Elizabeth, Eleanor, & Don Click on picture above to go to more info.

April 21 2009: President Eleanor Sylver kicks off the Kennett Rotary's first Literacy Symposium. DG Joel Chesney, AG Bonnie Korengel and Longwood Rotary President David Harandon are in the front row. Panelists Susan McCardle, Janine Pressloid, Kathleen McLaughlin and Joan Holliday discussed literacy issues in so. Chester County based on their expertise and backgrounds.


Rotarian Steve Pember (far right) has spearheaded the Kennett Club's Trooper of the Year Award for several years. This year Trooper Kenton (Kent) Iwaniec received the award posthumously. Trooper Iwankeic was tragically killed in 2008 due to a drunk driver. Please visit www.trooperiwaniec.org for more information.
