Glenside racing great addresses Rotary Club
Ken Montgomery, owner and operator, with his son Ken Jr., of
Montgomery’s Service Center in Glenside, made a presentation to
the Rotary Club of Glenside Jan. 5 at the club’s weekly lunch
meeting at Lulu Country Club in North Hills. The Rotary Club of Glenside meets for lunch Fridays at noon at Lulu Country Club. St. Luke School Student Receives Community Service Award The Rotary Club of Glenside awarded its Community Service Award in December to a student from St. Luke the Evangelist School in Glenside, at one of the club’s weekly luncheon meetings at Lulu Country Club.

The “Cruizin’ Glenside” Show was founded by the Greater Glenside Chamber of Commerce as a car show 13 years ago, and now features cars, trucks, motorcycles, military vehicles and helicopters, and musical entertainment. The event is organized and run by the Chamber, with volunteer support from the Rotary Club of Glenside. Proceeds from the fund-raiser support the Chamber’s Young Entrepreneur Scholarship fund as well as other programs. The scholarship awards one local student a $3,000 scholarship every year. Abington Invitational another great event Glenside Rotarian Burt Ritchie is the driving force behind the annual Abington Invitational, a cross-country meet held at Abington High School in September. Burt has been running the invitational for about 14 years, bringing Rotarians out to staff the high school sporting event. This year, the Abington Invitational was held on September 9. About 600 athletes ran in four races. The Rotary Club

in North Hills. Grant Recipient Tells Tales of Trip to Tanzania Patricia Enright of Glenside made a presentation to the Rotary Club of Glenside July 7, 2006 at the club’s weekly lunch meeting at Lulu Country Club in North Hills.
Enright, president of ROI Performance Solutions in Glenside, spent a month in Tanzania as part of a volunteer group trip to the area. The volunteer program is run through Cross-Cultural Solutions, a non-profit organization that specializes in community development projects. While in Tanzania, Enright worked with the Tanzania Home Economics Association, which helps women and youths through sustainable businesses. She helped improve the operations of THEA’s shop, a gallery where handicrafts are sold. The Rotary Club of Glenside, whose motto is Service Above Self, gave Enright a grant to help underwrite the cost of her trip. The Rotary Club of Glenside meets for lunch Fridays at noon at Lulu Country Club.

Patricia Enright, whose recent volunteer visit to Tanzania was
partially underwritten by a grant from the club. In front of the

Glenside Rotary Clean-Up Event Members of the Rotary Club of Glenside spend a few hours cleaning up the Rotary Circle on Keswick Avenue in the Keswick Village section of Glenside in June 2006. The Rotary Club of Glenside, whose motto is Service Above Self, maintains the traffic circle year-round, and schedules a spring clean-up day every year.
