Glenside Rotaians celebrated the holiday season by gathering at the home of Charlie and Ann Breinig this year. While predictions of bad weather kept many members away a good time was had by all that attended.

The 4 Avenues of Service Award was presented to Dr. Dave Cooper by President Lyn Church -well deserved Dave. It was also announced that Jennifer Nicholaides and New Life Thrift Shop will be receiving this years Glenside Chamber of Commerce Community Service Award.

A special thank you to Bob Pannepacker for the wonderful arrangement for the center of the dining table.

Vocational Service Award

The Glenside Rotary Club presented their annual Vocational service award luncheon on October 19th, 2007.

This year’s recipient is Ken Clark Abington Township Fire Marshall. Mr. Clark is a long time resident of Abington and served with distinction on the Abington Police Force prior to becoming Fire Marshall. His years of service to the community highlight the importance that vocation plays in our daily lives and exemplifies the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self.

Car Show August 4th

Members of the Rotary Club of Glenside volunteer their time to make the 14th Annual “Cruizin’ Glenside” Show, held Aug. 4 on Easton Road in Glenside, a success. Every year at the community event, Glenside Rotarians help organize and distribute trophies to the winners as well as any other necessary jobs.

The “Cruizin’ Glenside” Show was founded by the Greater Glenside Chamber of Commerce as a car show 14 years ago, and now features cars, trucks, motorcycles, military vehicles and helicopters, and musical entertainment. The event is organized and run by the Greater Glenside Chamber of Commerce, with volunteer support from the Rotary Club of Glenside.

Proceeds from the fund-raiser support the Chamber’s Young Entrepreneur Scholarship fund as well as other programs. The scholarship awards one local student a $3,000 scholarship every year.
